On his part, assistant coach for Chintheche United, Kaloti Kayuni, accepted the defeat saying his team failed to utilise the chances they got from the game.

Head coach for the hosts, Isaac Jomo Osman, said his team tried everything they could to earn a goal but failed and one mistake cost them into the game.

“It happens in Football as we were also in Karonga where we won last week so today we made one mistake, our goalkeeper conceded a penalty but in the entire game we tried hard but it was just not our day.” Said Osman.

On his part, Nelson Chirwa of Chilumba Barracks said he was happy after the win as they keep on moving up in the League.

“It was our plan to attack first and get an early goal then we should defend it which we did and this has helped us to add more points in the League and I’m very happy for the win.” Said Chirwa.

Bangwe All Stars remain fourth on the standings with 16 points from five wins, one draw and four defeats while Chilumba are on position 10 with 10 points from two wins, four draws and four defeats in the League.

Meanwhile in FOMO FC handed Baka City their third straight defeat of the season after thumping them 3-0 at the Mulanje Park Stadium and jump into the top five of the League.

Chitsanzo Saidi scored on each side of Ngesi Mwafulirwa’s own goal to fire the hosts to their fifth victory in the League and trim their gap on to Red Lions to just 8 points.

Head coach for FOMO FC, Jimmy Zakazaka said he was happy to have picked a win as they performed the way they planned to do before the game.

“It was a good game, we played according to how we planned and I’m happy that the boys did well in the game.” Said Zakazaka.

On his side, Victor Mwakhwawa of Baka City said fatigue and poor officiation were two factors that led to their downfall in the game.

“We struggled due to fatigue as our journey from Karonga to Mulanje was not good and 10-15 minutes, officiation frustrated us as they denied us a clear goal that’s why we lost 3-0.” Said Mwakhwawa.

The result means FOMO FC sit fifth on the log table with 15 points from five wins and five defeats while Baka City are on position 7 with four wins, three draws and three defeats in the League.

Finally in Balaka, Red Lions maintained their top spot in the League after beating Mitundu Baptist 2-0 to open a three-point gap on top of the League at the Balaka Stadium.

Royal Bokosi scored two goals to inspire the Soldiers to a big win and return to winning ways after failing to record wins in the past two matches in the League.

Malumbo Mkandawire head coach for Red Lions said he was happy with the win as they needed it as they are coming from a loss.

“It was a tough game as we were facing a more organised side and we were coming from a loss so winning today has been good for us.” Said Mkandawire.

Meanwhile, Audrow Makonyola of Mitundu Baptist blamed the officiation saying they are not promoting football but spoiling.

“In our home game we win meaning we are a good team but when we travel this is what we face so this is Undermining the idea of the FAM President to develop the sport because this is now spoiling.” Said Makonyola.

Lions moved up to 22 points from 10 games on top of the League having won 7 games drawn once and lost two times while Mitundu Baptist are now third with 18 points from 6 wins and four losses in the League.
