Survival looks increasingly impossible for NBS Bank National Division League strugglers Jenda United, who are hanging by a thread after recording their 14th defeat of the season in a 2-0 loss against Baka City on Monday afternoon at Karonga Stadium.
Jenda have failed to produce results throughout the campaign, managing only one win and two draws for a total of five points from a possible 51 in the league.

With five games remaining—worth a maximum of 15 points—their relegation fate appears sealed. Ntaja United, who sit just above the relegation zone, have 20 points, meaning any additional points gained by Ntaja or their fellow relegation-threatened sides will mathematically confirm Jenda’s drop back to the regional league.
After the defeat in Karonga, head coach Uchizi Nkunika hinted at deep-rooted problems within the club but declined to elaborate.

“I don’t know what to say because I have run out of ideas. We try everything but still can’t get a result. We travelled with only 12 players, which shows we are having problems that I can’t discuss, but it’s too much now,” said Nkunika.

Meanwhile, it was a positive afternoon for Baka City, who strengthened their hopes of returning to the elite league by opening a three-point gap over third-placed Namitete Zitha.
Thomas Shabani opened the scoring in the 40th minute for the hosts before Amon Mwakitalu sealed the victory with a fine goal in the 70th minute.
Baka assistant coach Martin Nkhonya said they were unfazed by warnings that Jenda would come out fighting.
“We are fighting to reach number one. Of course, Red Lions are winning their games, but we will recover and beat them when we play them. We have more games at home and we want to make our base a fortress,” said Nkhonya.
The victory restored Baka’s seven-point gap on leaders Red Lions. They now have 32 points from nine wins, five draws, and three defeats.
