Creck Sporting Club centre-back Hardy Ng’andu has set his sights on a dream call-up to the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, ahead of next month’s COSAFA Cup in South Africa.

Ng’andu, a former Silver Strikers and Chitipa United defender, has been in scintillating form this season, showcasing both leadership and consistency in his performances. The 25-year-old has already netted two goals in six league appearances and picked up four Player of the Match awards — remarkable numbers for a central defender.
Having joined Creck Sporting last season, Ng’andu has quickly risen to become a key figure in the squad, often wearing the captain’s armband. His commanding presence at the back, coupled with his ability to inspire teammates, has made him one of the standout performers in the Central Region Chipiku League.
In an interview with the club’s media team, Ng’andu outlined his aspirations, making it clear that representing the Flames at the COSAFA Cup would be a significant milestone in his football journey.
“There’s the COSAFA Cup coming up, and it’s my dream to play for the national team one day,” he said. “What I want most is to keep the spirit high and maintain a positive image for our team.”
Despite Creck Sporting’s inconsistent run of form this season, the defender remains focused on lifting morale and helping his side regain momentum.
“We are not performing as well as we should, but we’ll keep pushing to bring back the winning momentum. It’s not easy, but once the confidence of every single player is back, we will all enjoy the game more and results will follow.”
His dream may not be far-fetched. Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has already begun monitoring local talent in preparation for the regional tournament. The Zimbabwean tactician recently visited his home country to assess the form of several foreign-based Malawian players, including goalkeeper William Thole, defender Nixon Nyasulu, and right-back Gomezgani Chirwa.
Pasuwa has publicly stated his intention to assemble a strong squad for the COSAFA Cup — a policy shift that could open the door for in-form domestic league players like Ng’andu.
