Hadji Wali stripped off armband as Kananji names new Captain for Creck

Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers defender, Hadji Wali has been stripped off his armband as the head coach, Eliya Kananji has named his new Captain, as the coach wants to establish his own leadership.

Wali who was appointed as the Captain of the club last season hasn’t been playing regularly this season and he was among players that were suspended by Football Association of Malawi for their misconduct during their Airtel Top 8 Cup match against Big Bullets.

According to the statement released by the club, the Coach has appointed former Chitipa United and Silver Striker’s defender, Hardy Ng’andnu effective August 2025.

Meanwhile, former Green Rangers defending midfielder, Frank Phiri has been named the vice captain with Gift Kadawati serving as the second vice captain.

Kananji emphasized the importance of discipline and consistency within the squad, praising Ng’andu’s composed and natural leadership qualities.

“I strongly believe the discipline and calmness he has shown during my time here proves he is a good leader both at the back and on the pitch,” said Kananji.

“Frank Phiri is completely mature and experienced he will consistently help lead the team well. As for Kadawati, he just needs motivation and confidence. With time, he’ll be key in terms of discipline too.”

Ng’andu, who joined Creck Sporting as a free agent, signed a three-year deal that keeps him at the club until 2026.

Reacting to his appointment, the new skipper expressed gratitude to the technical panel for the trust placed in him:“It’s something beautiful, adding to my career. It will help build my strength as a player and a leader. I will continue to guide my fellow players and consider them family. This badge is for us all,” said Ng’andu.

So far this season, Ng’andu has featured in 14 matches, scored one goal, and earned four Man of the Match awards.

Vice-captain Frank Phiri, a key figure in midfield, also impressed in the first round scoring twice and consistently displaying strong leadership on the pitch.
