Goshen City, the official sponsor of Dedza Dynamos, has reached an agreement with former Flames coach and striker Kinnah Phiri to join the club’s technical panel as an advisor.

Nation Sport reported earlier today that the company and club had approached Phiri to help Dedza Dynamos, who are fighting for survival in the league.

Sources close to the negotiations have confirmed to Wa Mpira that the two parties have finalized the deal. Phiri will join the club upon his return from South Africa, where he is currently with the National Team for friendly matches against Lesotho.

Dedza Dynamos are currently coached by Alex Ngwira, but recent results have been disappointing. The new sponsors want to strengthen the technical panel to help secure the team’s place in the elite league.

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s spokesperson, Aubrey Kusakala, confirmed to Nation Sport on Friday that they had approached Phiri for his expertise.

“We approached Kinnah to seek his advice on how Dynamos can avoid relegation this season. He has vast experience both as a player and a coach, and we believe he can help us out,” said Kusakala.

Ernest Mtawali Lined Up as Head Coach for Next Season

Goshen City’s partnership with Dedza Dynamos extends beyond simple sponsorship. The company plans to bring in its own personnel to operate the team, as visionary Shepherd Bushiri indicated during the unveiling ceremony that he wants to transform Dedza into one of Africa’s best teams.

This ambitious project will begin with reshuffling the technical panel. Ernest Mtawali, former Flames coach and player, is leading the race to become the new head coach should the team survive relegation.

Kusakala said Mtawali has expressed interest in leading the team, and discussions are ongoing at management level.

Dedza Dynamos currently sit just one point above the relegation zone with 24 points from 24 games.
