Malawian international Gabadinho Mhango is set to part ways with Marumo Gallants at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season, his agent Mike Makaab has confirmed.

The 32-year-old forward joined Gallants at the start of the season following the club’s purchase of Moroka Swallows’ top-flight status. Mhango was among the players who made the switch after Swallows faced financial turmoil and sold their status to Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.

Mhango made a solid start to life at the Bloemfontein-based club under former coach Dan Malesela, contributing five goals and one assist in 25 appearances across all competitions.

However, his involvement has dwindled in recent weeks. Under the leadership of current head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, Mhango has featured in just one of the last five league matches—coming on as a second-half substitute—which has fueled speculation over his future at the club.

Speaking to FARPost, agent Mike Makaab confirmed that the former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu FC star will leave the club once his contract expires at the end of June.

“I can tell you that Gabadinho Mhango will leave Marumo Gallants at the end of the season and join a new club,” said Makaab.

“When you look at Mhango and how he has performed at his club, he has given it his all, but he will definitely leave at the end of the season.”

Mhango’s next move remains unknown, but Makaab hinted that discussions are ongoing, with the striker eager for a new challenge.

Meanwhile, Gallants are aiming to finish the season on a high. The club currently sits 10th on the DStv Premiership table with 31 points from 27 matches and remains in contention for a top-eight finish, which would secure qualification for the MTN8 competition next season.

They will wrap up their campaign with a crucial clash against Magesi FC at Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday, 24 May.
