“We are one of the districts, if not the only one in the Central Region, having multiple sponsorship deals, which is commendable,” Bizale said.

He urged the association to continue working as a team in all its activities.

In his remarks, General Secretary for the association Hashim Shosholozi Adam said they invited Bizale to be part of the ceremony as a father of football in the district.

“We can’t talk about football in Dedza without mentioning him, so we thought it wise to have him here to appreciate his contribution towards the game in Dedza,” Shosho said.

The general secretary further appealed to teams to maintain discipline throughout the competition to avoid tarnishing the image of the sponsor.

“How the teams conduct themselves in the league is what will motivate the sponsor to continue helping us or not, so they need to safeguard this league by all means,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, speaking at the end of the ceremony, owner of NIJ Agro Mix Traders Ishmael Ajawa said he wants to see more hidden talent in the competition being exposed outside Dedza.

“What I want to see is players growing in the game and getting opportunities to play in the country’s elite league,” Ajawa said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting football in Dedza district.

The league will involve 16 teams that are currently not part of the Saint Louis High School Dedza District Football League.

During the launch match, Dedza Pirates and Chiluzi United played to a one-all draw. Ephet Chewala gave Pirates the lead in the 20th minute before Jabiri Layimeni equalized for Chiluzi deep in the second half.
