Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets captain and assistant coach Fischer Kondowe has challenged the club’s board to publicly disclose the reasons behind his dismissal.

Bullets announced on Wednesday that they had parted ways with the club legend, who had served the team for approximately 24 years.

In their statement, Bullets did not specify the reasons for the decision, saying they just mutually agreed to part ways.

But Chief Executive Officer, Albert Chigoga argued they chose discretion to avoid “embarrassing” the long-serving figure.

“We are not disclosing the reasons for Fischer Kondowe’s departure, but he was privately furnished with the reasons. You have to remember that Mr Kondowe is one of Bullets’ legends and as a club, we value our legends,” said Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga.

“We don’t want to embarrass our club legend. We respect people who offered their services to the club—unless Mr Kondowe wants to share the reasons with the public.”

“Kondowe Breaks Silence”

However, in an interview with Times Sport, Kondowe—who until his dismissal served as second assistant coach—said the club should reveal the truth.

“I have decided to stay quiet deliberately on my firing from the club. However, I’m waiting for Bullets to tell the public the truth of the matter. Then I will be able to respond,” Kondowe said.

Kondowe’s relationship with Bullets spans more than two decades. He joined the club’s youth team in 1996 before earning promotion to the senior squad in 1998, where he played for seven seasons.

He later had stints with South African clubs Bush Bucks, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Black Leopards before returning to Bullets in 2011.

After retiring from active football in 2020, Kondowe was appointed fitness trainer by then-coach Kalisto Pasuwa. Earlier this year, he was promoted to second assistant coach.
