Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee member, Daud Mtanthiko, has extended further support to Twinkles FC as part of his ongoing personal initiative to uplift rural and grassroots football teams across the country.
This time, Mtanthiko has supported the club’s under-14 squad with two sets of jerseys, a set of training kits, and 14 footballs.

Through his project, Mtanthiko continues to contribute meaningfully to the football transformation agenda championed by FAM president Fleetwood Haiya since taking office.
“There is a lot of talent that can help to improve the game if properly nurtured. I’m moved by the thought that so many players in grassroots and rural areas can be discovered if they are just given a little support,” he said.
Twinkles FC, based in the outskirts of Blantyre in Bangwe, Namiyango, is home to a group of promising young players. Since the team is made up of school-going boys, Mtanthiko also donated notebooks and pens to support their education and ease the financial burden on their parents as schools reopen on September 22.

This gesture aligns with FAM’s broader vision of nurturing a generation of footballers who combine sporting talent with formal education—equipping them with critical thinking skills and offering alternative career paths for those who may not go on to play professionally.
Mtanthiko revealed that his project aims to support as many teams as possible across the country. Depending on availability of funds, he is even willing to travel as far as Karonga—the northernmost district of Malawi—to assist more rural teams.
On August 30, Mtanthiko also donated footballs and a jersey to Namkumba FC, a team based in Santhe, T/A Chaima, in Kasungu District.
