Enos Chatama: Ekhaya and Creck both ambitious, but we aim to win
Ekhaya FC returns home this Saturday after securing a crucial point on the road with a barren stalemate against Blue Eagles in their recent league assignment. The Cowboys are now set for a pivotal clash against Creck Sporting Club, a team that has openly declared their intent to leave Blantyre with three points, not just for sightseeing.
Currently sitting third with 11 points from eight games, Enos Chatama’s fearless side is eyeing a victory that would bring them within two points of Mighty Wanderers, who hold second place with 16 points.

In an interview with the club’s media, Chatama acknowledged Creck as a formidable and ambitious opponent that Ekhaya will not underestimate.
“We have been preparing for the game, and the boys are geared. They are looking forward to Saturday’s game with eagerness and willingness to play,” Chatama stated.
“I can say that the team is getting better; the boys know what it means playing on Saturday. We had a week’s break, which perhaps affected the boys after a good performance against Blue Eagles in a game which we drew 0-0 away from home. I believe the boys will be ready for the game on Saturday.”
Chatama emphasized the importance of the match, especially given Creck’s recent technical shake-up.
“This is a very important game, taking into consideration that we are playing a team that has had a technical shake-up; they have a new head coach. Their players will be motivated; they will play hard to impress the coach. When a team changes the coach, it’s always tough to play against. It will be tough, but the boys are ready to take on Creck Sporting.”
He further lauded Creck’s new coach, Eliya Kananji, describing him as experienced and good.
“Eliya Kananji has been in the game for quite some time, and he is a good coach. He is very experienced, and Creck is an ambitious team. So, two ambitious teams battling out for points—we have got the same ambitions, to stay in the league.
“They want to do better; talking about Creck, who were in the Top 6 last season, they showed that they are a good team. It won’t be an easy game, but we will fight until the end.”
Regarding player fitness, Chatama provided an update on his squad.
“I can say that the guys who were out injured have started training but are not fully fit. [Emmanuel] Saviel had a minor injury that he picked during training; he has to be assessed by the doctors.
“Other guys like Joseph Macdonald and Shafton Mtokoma are all back, but others are not 100% fit for the game. We will be bringing them little by little until they gain full fitness.”
