Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos’ search for a return to winning ways continued on Sunday afternoon as they were held to a goalless draw by Blue Eagles at Dedza Stadium. The result extends Eagles’ unbeaten run to six matches in the TNM Super League.
The match was evenly contested, with both sides creating decent chances but ultimately lacking the cutting edge in the final third. Dedza were hoping to bounce back from back-to-back defeats, while Eagles came in buoyed by two wins and three draws from their last five matches.
The hosts started brightly, with Otchaya Otim Okot going close in the 3rd minute, only to send his effort wide. Marco Chiwaya then rattled the crossbar in the 10th minute as Dynamos pushed for an opener. Eagles responded with their first attempt when Ian Chinyama volleyed straight at the goalkeeper.

Dedza continued to look threatening as a clever team move saw Chiwaya tee up Khumbo Banda, whose shot hit the side netting just past the half-hour mark. The visitors made a change late in the half, introducing Sankhani Mkandawire for the youthful Bennett Konyo, but the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, James Stambuli came close with a header from a John Banda delivery, while Gift Kasambala missed the target after a promising Dedza attack. On the 57th minute, Gilbert Chirwa shot wide from Banda’s pass before Victor Lungu replaced Chiwaya just past the hour mark.
Eagles nearly stole the win late in the game when Micium Mhone found space in the box, but Lughano Kayira was alert to clear the ball off the line. Despite Eagles piling on pressure in the closing stages, Dedza held on for a valuable point at home.

Dedza Dynamos head coach Alex Ngwira lamented his side’s missed opportunities.
“We have to blame ourselves for the draw because we had chances to win it. We pinned them in the first half but didn’t capitalize. In the second half, we also dominated but couldn’t convert,” said Ngwira.
Blue Eagles coach De Klerk Msakakuona was satisfied with the point, though he had hoped for more.
“It was a good game. We wanted to win but failed to convert our chances — that’s part of football. Travelling from Area 30 to Dedza and getting a point isn’t a bad outcome, although we aimed for all three,” he said.
The result leaves Dedza Dynamos in 9th position with 15 points from 13 games (4 wins, 3 draws, 6 losses), while Blue Eagles remain 6th with 17 points from 11 matches (4 wins, 5 draws, 2 defeats).
