Malawi national team’s first-choice goalkeeper William Thole has etched his name in Zimbabwean football history by becoming the first foreign shot-stopper to win the league’s Golden Glove award.
The former Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper achieved the feat during his debut season with Simba Bhora FC, whom he joined earlier this year after declining to renew his contract with the Malawian giants.

Thole’s exceptional performances between the posts saw him keep 17 clean sheets in 31 league appearances, missing just three matches throughout the campaign. His consistency and shot-stopping ability quickly made him a fan favorite and one of the club’s most influential players.
Under Thole’s guardianship, Simba Bhora conceded only 21 goals in 34 matches, helping the team secure a third-place finish with 61 points—eight points behind champions Scotland FC
Thole’s success in Zimbabwe further cements his reputation as one of Southern Africa’s premier goalkeepers and adds another chapter to his already impressive career with the Flames, Malawi’s national team
