Duwe, Kamanga, Sambani ruled out of Top 8 Cup final

Silver Strikers Football Club have been hit by injury setbacks ahead of their forthcoming Airtel Top 8 Cup final against their rivals, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as three key players have been added to the injury list.

The Bankers are hunting for their third top 8 glory when they step into the pitch on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium but they will have to do it without scintillating attacker, Festus Duwe, Captain Chikondi Kamanga and Precious Sambani who have been ruled out due to injuries.

“We will not have Festus, Chikondi, Precious Sambani just to mention afew,” said Silver Strikers Head Coach, Peter Mgangira.

Festus Duwe’s absence is the main setback for the team as he has been the pillar since the start of the campaign.

Duwe currently is leading the scoring chart in the competition and boasts a very big opportunity to win the golden boot award after netting three goals to his name- he scored all goals against Moyale Barracks.

However, Mgangira remains confident that his players will deliver despite having gapa of the three players.

Silver Strikers are facing Bullets in the tournament’s final for the third time and they lost the previous two bettles, Mgangira hopes to change the narrative.

“The team is ready for the final though we have a few injuries. Regardless of the results against Bullets in the past games we are confident of getting a result come Sunday.

“We feel this is our opportunity to change the narrative and the players know the importance of this match, there are medals and a prize money at stake. The good thing is the majority of the players we have, have what takes to take the game home,” said Mgangira.
