In a bid to tighten up security at Dedza Stadium, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC through its security department has on Thursday trained 30 stewards.
The training follows a Stewards Trainer of Trainers workshop that was organized by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) in Lilongwe last month which the team’s security department led by Bruno Kamanga attended.

Speaking at the end of the training Kamanga said they were told to train others so as end all forms of hooliganism during matches hence today’s training.
“This is part of the responsibility that we were asked to do after returning to our respective clubs and I believe we have taken a right direction to achieve the vice,” Kamanga indicated.

He added that they want to make Dedza a friendly home for all the visiting teams and that can only be achieved by having enough people who will be providing security on match day.
“We have set a thief to catch a thief here which will make it easy to identify all culprits of violence at Dedza Stadium,” Kamanga lamented.
He gave an example of what happened last season against Moyale Barracks at Dedza Stadium highlighting that it costed the team a lot of money which could have been used for other important activities rather than paying for charges against violence.
One of the beneficiaries of the training Ernest Gamphani describes it as a game changer in as far as ending violence is concerned.
“It was a very important training which will surely assist us in the course of our security work at the stadium,” Gamphani said.
At the end of the workshop in April at BNS which was facilitated by FIFA and CAF Safety and Security expert Dixon Okello from Uganda, FAM Executive Committee member Felister Dossi urged the participants to use the necessary tools and knowledge that they were equipped with to create a secure atmosphere for players and spectators in match venues.
