Dedza Dynamos secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Kamuzu Barracks at Dedza Stadium on Sunday afternoon, August 31st, 2025, moving up to ninth position in the TNM Super League standings.

The win marked Dynamos’ second victory in the second round of the TNM Super League, lifting them from the relegation zone’s 14th position to a more comfortable ninth place on the table. The improvement comes as a welcome relief for the team that struggled during the first round of matches.

The victory comes at a particularly significant time for the club, as they recently secured a massive 500 million Kwacha sponsorship deal with Bushiri. As part of this partnership, the team will undergo a name change and will be known as Goshen City Dedza Dynamos going forward.

Dedza Dynamos head coach Alex Ngwira expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance and the recent developments at the club.

“Our boys are working hard and taking instructions, that’s why we are scoring now. With the new sponsorship, the boys are happy with it and supporters as well,” Ngwira said after the match.

The coach acknowledged that the team had struggled to collect three points in the latter stages of the first round but noted the marked improvement in their recent performances.

Meanwhile, Kamuzu Barracks’ Justin Mhango was left to rue his team’s missed opportunities despite what he felt was a solid performance.

“His team played well, we had more chances but lack of finishing punished us. We will do everything to win because we have a long journey ahead – we have more games to play,” Mhango reflected.

The victory moved Dedza Dynamos from 11th to 9th position on the TNM Super League table with 21 points from 17 matches played. Their climb out of the relegation zone represents a significant psychological boost for the team and their supporters.

Kamuzu Barracks, despite the defeat, remain in 7th position with 25 points from 17 games. While they maintain their mid-table position, the loss represents a missed opportunity to climb higher up the standings.

The result demonstrates the competitive nature of the TNM Super League’s second round, where teams are fighting for every point as they look to achieve their respective season objectives.
