Silver Strikers Ladies are flying high in the National Bank of Malawi National Women’s Premiership, having beaten every team they have faced this season both home and away.
The Bankers have slain giants Ascent Academy, Kukoma Ntopwa Queens, MDF Lioness and Mighty Wanderers Women, while also defeating bottom-of-the-table sides Moyale Sisters and Topik Academy to maintain a perfect run in the league.

The Bankers not only lead the standings but also lead in goals scored. They have netted 18 goals in the league—four more than FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women and five ahead of Ascent Academy.
Remarkably, 44.44% of the team’s goals have come from their prolific forward, Deborah Henry, who has become the hub of the team’s scoring.
Henry found more freedom following the departure of Chisomo Banda, who joined Konkola Blades Queens in Zambia. Banda was the team’s most reliable forward and scored the winner against MDF Lioness in their opening match.
Deborah began her scoring journey with a goal in the team’s 4-0 win over Moyale Sisters before claiming her first player of the match award. Her two goals fired the Bankers past Ascent Academy 2-1 away from home.
She scored twice again in their 6-1 home win over Topik Academy before netting the lone goal against Mighty Wanderers Women. A brace in the 3-1 win against Kukoma Ntopwa Queens earned her player of the match awards in both matches against Southern Region teams.
She leads the golden boot race with eight goals, ahead of Ascent Academy duo Leticia Chinyamula and Mayamiko Mkandawire, who both have five goals. Kondawo Banda of Ntopwa and Vanessa Issa of Bullets have four goals each.
Speaking about her performances, Henry attributed her success to assistance from her coaches and teammates.
“My fellow players are helping me a lot to score goals because we attack together and we follow what the coaches tell us during training. I will keep working hard and following coaches’ instructions so that I continue scoring goals,” said Henry.
Meanwhile, her coach Andrew Chikhosi said they are working to build Henry into one of the finest forwards in women’s football in the country.
“She is a good player and she is really enjoying her form, but she still lacks a few things to be a complete player. We are helping her so that she becomes one of the elite players that the country will depend on,” remarked Chikhosi.
The forward is known for her speed, footwork, shooting ability and dribbling, which enable her to score consistently for the team.
Henry and the Bankers will look for more success in the league when they face Civil Service Women in a capital city derby at their home ground, Silver Stadium.
