Goshen City Dedza Dynamos Football Club cruised into the round of 16 of the Castel Challenge Cup after a convincing 3-1 victory over Creck Sporting Club at Aubrey Dimba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Chikondi Mbeta opened the scoring early in the first half before Chifuniro Mpinganjira doubled the lead just before the break. Luke Chima put the game beyond doubt early in the second half with Dedza’s third goal. Creck managed only a consolation strike from Frank Phiri five minutes from time.

The match carried significant weight for both sides. Dedza Dynamos, who finished outside the top eight in the 2025 TNM Super League, were looking to arrest a two-game losing streak against Creck Sporting. Meanwhile, Creck were seeking to extend their winning run against the Dedza-based side to three consecutive matches.
For Creck, cup disappointment has become a familiar pattern. They were eliminated from the FDH Bank Cup in the quarterfinals by Mighty Wanderers and suffered the same fate in last season’s Castel Challenge Cup, also at the hands of Wanderers, losing on penalties after a 1-1 draw. This time, they couldn’t even reach the quarterfinal stage.
Dedza made the perfect start, taking the lead against the run of play in the 14th minute. After absorbing early pressure from the hosts, Chikondi Mbeta pounced on Aggrey Msowoya’s through ball to beat goalkeeper Emmance Nyirenda.
Creck pushed hard for an equalizer, with George Chaomba, Frank Phiri, and Harvey Nasiyaya testing Dedza’s backline. In a bid to increase attacking tempo, Creck made a tactical substitution four minutes before halftime, bringing on Jackson Beza for Arnold Kiyama.
However, the change failed to produce the desired effect. Instead, Dedza struck again two minutes into first-half stoppage time. Luke Chima found space and played in Chifuniro Mpinganjira, who made no mistake with his finish.
Dedza made two changes at the break, introducing David Habu and Blessings Phiri for Edward Dakalira and Frank Chikufenji.
The substitutions proved effective as Dedza extended their lead in the 56th minute. This time, Luke Chima turned from provider to scorer, converting Mpinganjira’s pass to make it 3-0 and effectively end the contest.
Creck continued to press forward and salvaged some pride when Frank Phiri pulled one back in the 85th minute after receiving a pass from Patrick Mupanzi, but it proved to be mere consolation as Dedza comfortably saw out the victory.
Dedza Dynamos will now face Karonga United in the Round of 16 as they look to continue their cup run, while Creck Sporting must turn their attention back to league matters after another early cup exit.
