Civil Service United could move well clear of the relegation zone in the TNM Super League as they look to record their first back-to-back wins in the league when they face struggling Songwe Border United at Civo Stadium on Saturday.

The team is enjoying a good run in recent matches, having claimed 8 points from a possible 12 after recording two wins and two draws in their past four games.

The Civil Servants are boosted and highly motivated after securing a famous 2-1 win over FCB Nyasa Big Bullets last week, thanks to goals from John Dambuleni and Moses Banda — a vital victory that pulled them out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, they also managed a 1-1 away draw against Kamuzu Barracks, a 2-0 win over Creck Sporting Club, and a goalless draw against MAFCO at home in their last four matches.

They face Songwe Border United for the first time ever, and their head coach, Abbas Makawa, has ruled out any chances of underrating their opponents.

“It’s not going to be easy, as Songwe is looking for their first win, so they will come flat out. But we have done everything to ensure we get a win and move up in the league, as you know we are not in a good position,” said Makawa.

He also said his team will miss a couple of players due to injuries, which he declined to name, but added that the squad has capable replacements to fill the void on Saturday.

After amassing 13 points from 11 games and sitting in 13th place, the Civil Servants could move up to 9th with a win. They have registered three wins, four draws, and four defeats in the league.
