Chiudza, who netted nine TNM Super League goals for Tigers in 2023, had attracted interest from both Civil Service United and Ekhaya ahead of the 2025 season. However, neither deal could proceed as he still had a year remaining on his Tigers contract.
Sources close to the situation revealed that Civil Service United had offered Chiudza a lucrative monthly salary of K500,000 and were in advanced negotiations for his signature. Encouraged by this prospect, Chiudza requested clearance from Tigers.
Technical director Robin Alufandika confirmed granting the clearance, stating that the club would not obstruct a player seeking better opportunities elsewhere.
“We won’t stand in the way of a player with better options,” Alufandika said.
With clearance secured, Chiudza officially became a free agent. However, Civil Service United has since gone conspicuously silent.
Chiudza’s final appearance for Tigers came on August 31, when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Karonga United at Mulanje Park Stadium. Shortly after receiving his clearance, he contacted Civil Service United to confirm his availability and advance negotiations.
What followed was deafening silence. Phone calls went unanswered. WhatsApp messages remained unread, marked only by blue ticks. The promising move that had seemed so certain now appears to have evaporated.
For a player of Chiudza’s calibre, this represents a cruel twist of fate. A talent who once appeared destined for greater heights now finds himself in limbo—frustrated, uncertain, and waiting for a call that may never come.
The striker’s situation serves as a stark reminder of football’s unpredictable nature, where a player’s career can shift dramatically based on circumstances beyond their control.
