Chimango Kayira leaves Bullets, appointed Head Coach for Liberty FC

Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Captain Chimango Kayira has been appointed as the Head Coach for South Region side, Liberty Football Club.

Chimango popularly known as BlackBerry has been working as the assistant coach for Bullets Youth since retiring from active football and has left his role at the club to embark on a new project at Liberty, a club owned by Raphael Humba, former Southern Region Football Association Chairperson.

Liberty FC are working on finding consistency in the Thumbs up league and they believe that Kayira, former, Escom United midfielder is the right choice for their project.

The development has been announced by Chimango Kayira Foundation General Secretary, Elisha Kay Banda who said, “On behalf of the Chimango Kayira Foundation and Berry’s Sports Corner, I extend our warmest congratulations to our Founder and President, Mr. Chimango Kayira, on his appointment as Head Coach of Liberty FC. We wish him all the best in this new role and look forward to his success.”

Chimango, 38, retired from active football in 2023 finishing his illustrious career with Bangwe All Stars and he joined Mpira Mmudzi Mwathu, an organization which grooms young players in all the cities in Malawi.

He joined Bullets in 2012 from Escom United and spent two seasons with the people’s team before sealing a move to Costa De Sol in 2014. He returned in 2016
