Head coach for Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC Andrew Bunya has praised the mentality of his players following a 3-0 victory against Bangwe All Stars in the TNM Super League on Sunday afternoon at Dedza Stadium.

Coming from back-to-back draws against Mighty Tigers and Chitipa United, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos had a point to prove against a team that is yet to win this season but kept a good record against them in three previous meetings.

Bunya made some changes from the team that started against Chitipa United and for the first time in his reign, he used a 3-5-2 formation which paid off as Khumbo Banda and Joseph Balakasi who naturally defenders started on the wings and helped the team both defensively and offensively.

Both teams started the game with a mission of getting an early goal and that was evidenced by two goals inside the opening 10 minutes though both of them were ruled out for offsides with Gamphani Lameck and Jimu Beston finding the back of the net in those two goals.

12 minutes into the game, Ochaya Okoti Otim tried a shot from a distance which was blocked by Bangwe All Stars defense and he was also involved in a one-two pass with Lameck Gamphani five minutes later to release Promise Kamwendo who had a chance but his shot went wide after he opted to shoot instead of passing the ball to Khumbo Banda or Joseph Balakasi who were open to welcome it.

The smiles for Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC come in the 24th minute of the match as Lughano Kayira jumped above Bangwe’s defense from a Frank Chikufenji corner kick to give Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC a lead.

Ochaya was then bound in the 28th minute for a foul on James Tambwali and Felix Demakude took an excellent free-kick trying to beat goalkeeper Anthony Singini but he missed.

Bangwe All Stars tried their best to come into the game through Friday Osagie who was kept quiet by the impressive Lughano Kayira and Patrick Phiri supporting Beston Jimu but Dedza’s defense was just too good on the day.

Chifuniro Mpinganjira starting his first game this season, doubled the lead for his team in the 41st minute with a clean finish from a Lughano Kayira ball.

Josiah Duwa was then booked at the end of the first half for a foul on Lameck Gamphani and the first half ended 2-0 in favor of the home team.

Come the second half, Bangwe All Stars came a changed side and Beston Jimu could have pulled a goal back in the 55th minute after being released by Patrick Phiri who stole the ball from Ochaya’s foot but he failed to do so.

Lugano Kayira could have scored a second goal for himself but he was denied by the crossbar in the 55th minute a minute later, Mpinganjira made it through as he completed his brace to make it 3-0.

Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC were dealt a blow in the 65th minute with the injury of Promise Kamwendo who was replaced by Rodwell Robertthe in the 67th minute and was joined by Godfrey Kanyand who replaced Joseph Balakasi.

Bangwe All Stars had their substitutions as well with Clever Chikwata and Gregory Mwase replacing Josiah Duwa and Ackim Osman and Kondwani Chilembwe replacing Beston Jimu.

Victor Lungu was introduced in the last 10 minutes of the match and he could have added a fourth but goalkeeper Elius Missi avoided more embarrassment for his side.

After the game, Bunya said it was a great response to a disappointing performance against Chitipa United.

“They have done it right today and we’re happy as they have played to instructions,” Bunya said.

He also praised his goalkeeping department saying that the competition between Singini and Mwakasinga is benefiting the team.

“Back-to-back clean sheets for Singini and Mwakasinga did the same as he has two clean sheets as well which is good for us,’ Bunya lamented.

Team Manager for Bangwe All Stars Whyte Suzumile accepted defeat at the end of the game.

“They have killed us through set pieces something that we warned our players but they failed to apply the knowledge given,” Suzumile said.

Lughano Kayira was voted man of the match.
