FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women have expressed dissatisfaction with their performance in the first round of the National Bank of Malawi National Women’s Premiership, having expected to finish at the top of the league.

The team’s assistant head coach, Charles Lubani, made this assessment following their 1-1 away draw against Civil Women last Sunday.

He cited several reasons for the team’s struggles in their first national league campaign, including injuries and the departure of key players.

“We have many injuries which have affected us, so we are using players without experience. We also sold Tendai Sani. We expected to finish first or second, but we have not done enough to achieve that,” said Lubani.

He also raised concerns about officiating, particularly when facing teams in Lilongwe away from home, which he believes has contributed to poor away results.

“We face the same issues when we are in Lilongwe. Against Ascent Academy, MDF Lioness, and now Civil Women, we are experiencing poor officiating. But when they come to Blantyre, the officiating is good. I don’t know if they are maybe trying to protect their teams—I don’t know,” he added.

However, Lubani has promised an improved performance in the second round, confidently stating that the team will win all their remaining games.

The People’s Team managed four victories in the first round, defeating MK Academy, Topik Academy, Moyale Sisters, and Mighty Wanderers Queens. They drew against Civil Women and MDF Lioness, but suffered three defeats—losing to Silver Ladies and Kukoma Ntopwa Queens at home, and to Ascent Academy away in Lilongwe.

Bullets Women finished the first round in fourth place with 14 points, having scored 16 goals and conceded 7.
