The civil servants were coming from two consecutive losses and desperately needed a win. Emily Samuel and Vitumbiko Mkandawire scored in either half to secure the victory.

Head coach for Civil Women, Collins Pofera, said they have been working hard to get positive results against Silver Ladies, who have been dominating over the years.
“It was a good game for our team because we played well from the first whistle. I told the girls that we must work hard to get maximum points and move out of where we are, and they delivered,” said Pofera.
On the other side, Silver Ladies coach Andrew Chikhosi said his players failed to perform during the match.
“We accept that we have lost and Civil came hard on us. The players may have assumed they’ve already won the league and put in no effort, hence we lost the game,” said Chikhosi.
Civil Women moved up to sixth on the log table with 25 points from 16 games while the champions remain top of the league with 42 points from 14 wins and two defeats.
Bullets Women Beat Wanderers Queens

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women sealed a double over Mighty Wanderers Queens this season after claiming a narrow 1-0 win in a heated match played at the Mpira Stadium.
The People’s Team edged the Nomads with the same margin in the first round, and Triza Chiwere’s second-half strike sealed the win to keep them just one win away from securing third place in the league.
Head coach Maggie Chombo-Sadick hailed her players for their hard work, which has kept them unbeaten throughout the entire second round this season.
“We had a team full of youngsters who were learning, but now they are able to deliver and know what we want. I believe that if we continue this, next season we will have a very good team to compete for the championship,” said Chombo-Sadick.
Wanderers Queens head coach Thom Kazembe blamed the officiating for contributing to their defeat.
“We played well in the first half but failed to score. In the second half we struggled because we could not afford to play against 12 players. They have achieved what they wanted; I believe they are now happy,” said Kazembe.
Bullets Women remain third in the standings with 31 points from 9 wins, four draws and three defeats, while Wanderers Queens dropped to seventh with 23 points from 7 wins, two draws and 7 defeats this season.
Ascent Thump Lioness
Ascent Academy went on the rampage against MDF Lioness at the Champions Stadium, handing them a heavy 3-0 defeat to secure a league double over them in a Lilongwe mini-derby.
Mayamiko Mkandawire grabbed a brace as Fatima Lali scored her fourth goal of the season to secure a big win and edge closer to the second spot in the league.
Head coach for Ascent Academy, Thom Nkolongo, hailed his players for their outstanding performance.
“We played very well, especially in the first half where we scored two goals. In the second half, Lioness began to attack more but after the third goal we closed them out. Second position is possible as we just need a win to achieve it,” said Nkolongo.
MDF Lioness captain John Kaputa said the Champions Stadium is not truly their home ground and noted areas for improvement.
“We just play games here but don’t train here, so it’s like neutral ground for us, just as it is for the travelling team. The game was tough but we have noted areas to improve. Come next season we will beat Ascent. Also, we didn’t have our top stars like Sabina Thom, Asimenye Simwaka and Fazilah Chiyembekezo, but that’s not an excuse,” he said.
Ascent remain second in the standings with 35 points from 11 wins, two draws and three defeats, while MDF Lioness dropped to fifth with 25 points from 7 wins, four draws and five defeats.
TOPIK Beat MK Academy to Earn First League Win
TOPIK Academy finally got their first win of the NBM Women’s Premiership after beating fellow relegated side MK Academy 2-1 at the Luwinga Technical Centre Ground.
Cecilia Nzima assisted Christina Chirwa in the 30th minute before doubling the score two minutes later, but Esther White’s 78th-minute goal for the hosts could not deny them the much-sought win.
Assistant coach for TOPIK Academy, Scolastica Khunga, said they are happy with the win they have waited so long to achieve.
“It was a tough game as this is a derby, but we told the players to do everything in order to get a win and I thank them because we have finally gotten it,” said Khunga.
MK Academy head coach Khumbo Sibale accepted the defeat, saying TOPIK Academy needed the win most.
“It was a tough match and I told my players that this would be the toughest match in the league because TOPIK wanted to get a win and indeed they prepared well. We accept the defeat,” he said.
The win took TOPIK up to ninth on the table with 6 points from one win, three draws and 12 defeats, while MK Academy remain eighth with 7 points from one win, four draws and 11 defeats this season.
Kukoma Ntopwa Wallop Moyale Sisters to Move Fourth
Kukoma Ntopwa Queens broke into the top four of the NBM Women’s Championship after thumping Moyale Sisters 4-0 in an early kick-off match at the Mpira Stadium.
Takondwa Gambuleni scored her eighth goal of the season in the first half before Mary Chindeya doubled the score in the 75th minute, and Kondawo Banda grabbed a brace to secure a big win.
Assistant coach for the Amaghetto Kids, Chikumbutso Henry, thanked his players for their outstanding performance in the league.
“I am a happy person because at least the team is able to do better in the second round. We have many injuries but other players have stepped up and shown a brilliant performance as well,” said Henry.
His opposite number, John Chimwala, said his players have already given up, knowing they are already relegated from the league.
“It is not tiredness but rather the players have just given up. They are not willing to deliver; that’s why we are conceding easy goals,” said Chimwala.
The win took Kukoma Ntopwa Queens up to fourth in the league with 27 points from 8 wins, three draws and five defeats, while Moyale Sisters dropped to tenth with just 5 points from one win, two draws and 13 defeats.
The round produced 13 goals with Kukoma Ntopwa being the highest-scoring team, and no draws were recorded in any of the fixtures.
