There is a defending menace at Chitipa United—Limbani Nyondo—but will he still play for the Chitipa-based side next season given his impressive talent?

“My ambition is to play for the big clubs in the country and even outside the country, but I have a running contract with Chitipa United until April 4, 2027,” Nyondo responds.

With that statement, the 22-year-old expressed both his ambitions to go far in his career and his commitment to remain with his parent club—for now.

In just his second season, Nyondo has established himself as one of the best defenders in the elite league.

Nyondo’s football journey began at Impala FC, where he rose patiently through the ranks from Under-14 to Under-23 level. Those formative years shaped his versatility, allowing him to operate comfortably both as a centre-back and defensive midfielder. In 2024, seeking top-flight exposure, he took a bold step to trial at Chitipa United—a move that would prove pivotal. The club handed him a three-year contract, a clear vote of confidence in his potential

His introduction to Super League football came during the tense closing stages of the 2024 season. Nyondo featured in three crucial fixtures against Mighty Tigers, Moyale Barracks, and Baka City—matches that defined Chitipa United’s survival battle. It was in the decisive encounter against Baka City that he truly announced himself, producing a commanding display at the back that earned him Man of the Match honors and played a key role in keeping the club in the elite division.

The 2025 season marked Nyondo’s full arrival. He made 28 league appearances, establishing himself as a mainstay in the Chitipa United backline. One standout performance came away to Moyale Barracks at Rumphi Stadium, where his composure, reading of the game, and leadership under pressure earned him another Man of the Match award.

Nyondo helped Chitipa United record 13 clean sheets in the 2025 season, with the team conceding just one goal per game on average. They kept clean sheets against Ekhaya, Moyale (twice), Kamuzu Barracks, Songwe Border, Mzuzu City Hammers, Karonga United, Creck Sporting (twice), Blue Eagles, Dedza Dynamos, Civil Service United, and Mighty Wanderers.

Still early in his career, Limbani Nyondo embodies the promise of Malawian football talent rising from grassroots systems to the biggest domestic stage. With consistency on his side and years still ahead of him, the Chitipa United defender looks set to grow into one of the league’s most reliable defensive figures.

Several clubs are already seeking his signature. His manager, James Da Kas Kasambala of JJ Sports Agency, says they are open to accepting better offers that will benefit the player’s career when the transfer window opens. The Malawian transfer window opens in February when the 2025/26 season ends.
