FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have reached an agreement with midfielder Chawanangwa Gumbo to extend his contract, Wa Mpira can exclusively reveal.
Gumbo, who joined the club in 2022 from Mzuzu City Hammers, has been a standout player for the team, often playing in a deep-lying midfield role. However, he has been absent from Bullets’ last three matches.
While the club has denied the claims, sources tell Wa Mpira that Gumbo has been in his hometown of Mzuzu since his last match on July 22, a cup tie against Silver Strikers. His absence was reportedly due to a contractual dispute between the player and the club.

The two parties have now found a compromise, and Gumbo has signed a new three-year contract that will keep him with the club until 2028. With the new deal signed, Gumbo has returned to Blantyre and is now available for selection. He could feature in the team’s Super League match against Karonga United this weekend.
During his time at Bullets, Gumbo has been instrumental in the club’s success, helping them win three Airtel Top 8 Cup trophies, the FDH Bank Cup, the Castel Challenge Cup, and two Charity Shields. He was also one of five Malawi U-23 players who participated in trials with the Pelican Sports Agency in Turkey.
