Mighty Wanderers are determined to make history as they aim to break FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ dominance in the Blantyre Derby.
The Nomads have had limited success in recent encounters, winning just once in the past 10 meetings, with two losses and seven draws.

However, Wanderers’ head coach Bob Mpinganjira remains confident, insisting that his team is not fazed by past results and is focused on creating a new chapter in this fierce rivalry.

“We dropped points against Silver Strikers last week, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of contention for the championship,” Mpinganjira said. “Morale is high, we’ve prepared well, and we’re fully committed to winning the game.”
Despite their poor recent record against the People’s Team, the Nomads are determined to overcome their city rivals. Mpinganjira emphasized that the team is not dwelling on previous encounters but is instead focused on the present and future.
“We’re not looking at the past,” he added. “We’re here to play football, fight hard, and win. We’ll do everything we can to claim the points and move up in the League standings.”
However, Wanderers face a challenge heading into the derby due to a defensive crisis. The team will only have one fit center-back, Peter Cholopi, as Lawrence Chaziya and Chimwemwe Nkhoma are sidelined with injuries. Additionally, Sama Thierry Tanjong and Mphatso Kamanga are unavailable for the match.
So far this season, the Nomads have been in strong form, winning four of their five matches, with one draw. They currently sit in second place with 13 points, having scored 10 goals and conceded just four.
