Blue Eagles Football Club has announced a significant partnership with onw of the betting firms in Malawi, World Star Bet Malawi, which will see the introduction of a lucrative Player of the Match award for every club fixture.

Wa Mpira reported on Wednesday that the Area 30-based Cops had landed a multimillion deal with World Star and the two parties unveiled the partnership on Thursday.

Under the terms of this new collaboration, the outstanding Player of the Match will receive a substantial cash prize of MK100,000 at the end of each Blue Eagles FC game.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm from Blue Eagles officials. Deputy Inspector of Malawi Police responsible for administration, Noel Kayira, expressed profound gratitude for the pioneering sponsorship.

“On behalf of the Inspector General and the entire Malawi Police organization, we are very excited because this is the first time as Blue Eagles to have a partner to sponsor the team,” Kayira stated.

“All this time, nobody wanted to partner with us, and this is a clear sign that the community is now showing trust in us. We are overjoyed and expect great things from this partnership, and we remain open to any individual, organization, or institution that wishes to partner with us – it’s a win-win situation.”

Kayira also used the platform to underscore the critical importance of discipline, urging players, supporters, administrators, and coaches to uphold ethical conduct both on and off the pitch.

“One of the key pillars that we need to display is the issue of discipline. The sponsor will not be happy if we are involved in violence and hooliganism. We don’t want to be relegated again this year,” he cautioned.

World Star Bet Malawi Country Director, Timothy Mandimba, articulated the motivation behind the betting firm’s investment.

“Looking at the invaluable security services that the Malawi Police provide to the country, we felt compelled to give back to the community,” Mandimba explained.

“We firmly believe that this partnership will not only uplift the performance of the team but also significantly enhance the visibility of our brand.”

The two parties believe that the partnership is expected to inject a new level of competition and recognition within the Blue Eagles squad, while also elevating the profile of World Star Bet Malawi within the Malawian football landscape.
