Head coach Audlow Makonyola was pleased with the win, which he said did not come easily.
“It was a tough game but we fought hard to win. We got an early goal and in the second half I told the players that we may not be the best technically and tactically, but we should protect the goal and it really worked,” said Makonyola.
Meanwhile, Namitete Zitha’s second assistant coach Kingsley Chisale said the officiating made some poor decisions that contributed to their loss.
“It was a tough match, almost like a final, and I believe the officials made some decisions that were unfair to us. But the chances are still there and we have to fight in our next two matches,” said Chisale.
The win moved Mitundu Baptist up to 35 points from 20 games in third place, while Namitete Zitha remain fourth with 32 points from 20 games.

In Chitipa, Ndirande Stars scored three late goals to stun relegation-threatened Chilumba Barracks in a 5-2 win at the Chitipa Stadium.
The visitors took a two-goal lead through Kondwani Kumcheza in the 9th minute and Madalitso Geoffrey’s 21st-minute strike, but Noah Clement and Kanido Mwafulirwa levelled the scores. Head coach for Chilumba Barracks, Nelson Chirwa, said their performance was very poor.
