NBS Bank National Division League side, Baka City, has described the second-tier league as more complex than the elite league, claiming that home teams tend to have an advantage over travelling teams, particularly in terms of officiation.
This was said by head coach Victor Mwakhwawa in his assessment of the team’s performance in their opening three matches of the campaign.

The side, relegated from the elite league last season, has so far collected five points from a possible nine. They began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Red Lions before settling for 1-1 draws away to Ndirande Stars and Mchinji Villa.
Mwakhwawa emphasized the importance of capitalizing on home matches to collect maximum points, as playing away is proving to be more difficult.
“This league is tougher than the Super League because teams playing at home have an advantage over the visitors. For instance, we had two clear penalties [against Mchinji Villa] which the referee did not award. They are human, they make errors, but I think we just have to make sure we win at home and struggle when playing away,” he said.
However, this view can be considered a matter of opinion, as current league leaders Mitundu Baptist have registered two away victories—beating Mchinji Villa 1-4 and Jenda United 0-3 at Kasungu Stadium.
Chintheche United from Nkhata Bay also defeated FOMO FC 0-1 at Mulanje Park Stadium in the first week of the league. Meanwhile, Red Lions managed an away win against fellow soldiers Chilumba Barracks with a 0-1 victory in Karonga during the second week.
