FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ towering striker, Babatunde Adepoju, a Nigerian national, has expressed his strong ambition to play for the Malawi National Football Team.

Adepoju has been a prominent figure in Malawian football for eight years, arriving in 2015. After unsuccessful trials with Blue Eagles, he joined Masters Security Football Club. His stellar performances there earned him a move to Mighty Wanderers, and later to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, where he has firmly established his legacy in local football.

Speaking to the club’s media platform, Maule Talks, Adepoju revealed his desire to represent Malawi as a way of repaying the nation for significantly advancing his professional football career.

“It’s something that I would like to achieve because it’s going to help my career as a person, benefiting myself and benefiting the nation, because I know that I’m capable of doing whatever is needed.”

The previous Football Association of Malawi (FAM) administration had considered securing Malawian citizenship for Adepoju after he initially expressed interest through his local manager. However, no concrete steps were taken until the current coaching setup, led by Kalisto Pasuwa, came into the picture.

Babatunde Adepoju has been highly successful with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, winning the Super League of Malawi three times and scoring an impressive 59 goals in 100 appearances.
