Meanwhile, Lioness staged a blistering performance in the first 45 minutes that saw Fazila Chiyembekezo scoring a brace while Mervis Misomali got their third goal to seal a 3-0 victory over the Civil Servants who were resilient in the second half and conceded no goal.
Head coach for Ascent Academy, Thom Nkolongo, was happy to claim the win saying his team played well against the Bankers.
“It has gone according to how we planned, we were first on the ball and created scoring chances of which some we missed but it’s good that we have won.” Said Nkolongo.
The man in charge of MDF Lioness, John Kaputa, said the team has just done what he always wants when they are playing games.
“It was not a simple game but rather we told them to at least score first then we defended that one, we scored the second and managed to defend it also then scored third so I think in the first half we really controlled the game and it’s where we won it.” Said Kaputa.
The tournament is expected to end on Sunday with these two sides facing and Chairperson of the National Women’s Football Association, Adelaide Migogo, believes the tournament has gone just well.
“We are going into the finals yes and we are happy that the whole tournament has gone so well we have seen that the girls were truly fighting in their matches and the fact that heavyweights have been beaten in the tournament added a flavor to it so Sunday we hope we will wrap up in style.” Said Migogo.
The match could be played as a curtain raiser for the TNM Super League match involving Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on Sunday but the winner will walk away with K8 million while the runners-up get K4 million.
