Dedza Dynamos coach Alex Ngwira insists his side isn’t giving Mighty Wanderers any special treatment in preparation for their Sunday clash, despite his personal history with the in-form Nomads.
Ngwira, who was unceremoniously fired from the Mighty Wanderers dugout in 2022, will return to Kamuzu Stadium for the anticipated fixture.
Wanderers are in blistering form, remaining the only unbeaten team in the league after seven games. They currently sit second on the table with 19 points, and a win on Sunday would propel them to the top with 22.

Dedza, under Ngwira’s guidance, is also on a good run, enjoying a three-game unbeaten streak with two wins and a draw. They recently beat Civil Service United and Songwe Border United, and secured a thrilling 3-all draw against Kamuzu Barracks.
Speaking on Thursday, Ngwira emphasized that his team is focused on securing a win in the commercial city, treating the match like any other league encounter.
“I know Wanderers the way they play, the levels they are right now. They are also chasing the first position, so that poses a very challenge on us. However, we are very much prepared to face them.
“Training was good, and the players are determined to show what they can do; they’re in fine form,” Ngwira stated. “Yes, little by little we are improving since I took over, and I’m happy with the progress of the team, but we still have room to improve.”
When asked if there were any special preparations for his former club, Ngwira was unequivocal: “No, we have prepared as usual. This is just another game in the league, but we have advised them to be cautious by not taking it lightly.”

Ngwira also provided an update on his squad’s fitness. He confirmed there are no new injuries, with Marco Chiwaya and Henry Msowoya still sidelined. However, there’s good news regarding Winstone Chimutu, who has recovered from the injury he sustained during their win over Songwe Border United.
“No other injuries, and Winstone Chimutu has been scanned; it has proved that his injury against Songwe was not a serious one, and he has trained the whole week,” Ngwira added. “No player has come back. Marco Chiwaya and Henry Msowoya are still nursing their injuries and are yet to start running.”
Despite a slow start to the season, Dedza Dynamos have climbed to seventh place with 13 points from nine games, thanks to their recent positive results. Sunday’s match promises to be a compelling encounter between two teams with momentum.
