Mighty Tigers Technical Director Robbin Alufandika was left visibly dejected and “without words” on Sunday afternoon after his team conceded two late goals to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, ultimately losing 2-0 at Kamuzu Stadium. The defeat extended the Tigers’ winless streak against the “People’s Team” dating back to 2012.
The resilient Tigers had held strong for much of the match, but Bullets, living up to their long-standing motto of “Bata n’kumadzulo” found their breakthrough in the dying minutes.
With rivals Mighty Wanderers already leading Kamuzu Barracks 3-0 in Mponela, the pressure was on Bullets to secure a win and maintain their two-point cushion at the top of the league.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 82nd minute when Hassan Kajoke capitalized on a Maxwell Phodo delivery to score the opener. Just seven minutes later, in the 89th minute, Babatunde Adepoju sealed the victory for Bullets, wrapping up the 2-0 win.

A visibly disappointed Alufandika attributed his team’s collapse to a lapse in concentration. “Those 9 minutes really hurt us,” he stated after the game. “I believe the boys have learned that games are played for the full 90 minutes. I hope they will perform better in the next game.”
He further elaborated on Bullets’ strategic play: “Bullets saw our strength and pushed more attackers into the game. They put our defenders under pressure. In nine minutes, they scored two goals. They utilized those nine minutes very well and pressurized us. Those 9 minutes really hurt us.”
Mighty Tigers remain in 11th position in the league standings with 10 points from nine games, still searching for that elusive victory against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
