Nkhoma, Mwaungulu score as Mazembe hammer Sanga Balende

TP Mazembe’s Malawi stars, Lanjesi Nkhoma and Patrick Mwaungulu, were instrumental in the team’s 3-0 thrashing of Sanga Balende in the Ligue 1 Championship Playoffs in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nkhoma scored his first goal for Mazembe, while Mwaungulu netted his third goal for the team and fourth in the playoffs.

The match got off to a flying start, with Nkhoma opening the scoring in the 13th minute. The Malawian forward met a precise ball from Oscar Kabwit and headed it past the Sanga Balende goalkeeper, giving Mazembe a deserved lead.

Despite dominating the first half, Mazembe had two clear chances go begging, but Nkhoma’s strike set the tone for the rest of the match.

In the second half, Mazembe continued where they left off, and Oscar Kabwit doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 48th minute.

Just after the hour mark, Nkhoma showcased his exceptional vision and skill, finding Mwaungulu with a beautifully weighted pass that allowed the forward to score his third goal for Mazembe.

The Flames duo of Nkhoma and Mwaungulu was substituted off the pitch in the 63rd minute, and Mazembe didn’t manage to add any more goals to their tally after their departure. However, the 3-0 scoreline was enough to showcase Mazembe’s dominance over Sanga Balende.

With this win, Mazembe now sits with 22 points in 11 games, having claimed 7 wins, 1 draw, and suffered 3 defeats in the Ligue 1 Championship.
