“When I first met Mr. Jim Kalua and he told me about the Football Legends Association, he sent me their catalog. Initially, I thought it was just a small club, but after going through the catalog, I realized they are supporting a very good cause,” Shah said.

“Our Malawi football legends who have retired don’t have many opportunities to sustain themselves. As a country, we have limited opportunities. These gentlemen are coming forward to address this, and as Zapamwamba, we are doing business here and thought it is our responsibility to support our legends.
“After meeting Mr. Kalua, I told him we would support the Association and become partners for the future. As you prosper, we also want to contribute to Malawi’s former players,” he added.
FLA board member and Resource Mobilization Committee Chairman Victor Msowoya commended the company for its support.

“We are really excited about this support. What people should understand is that this goes beyond the game. We are doing all this to cover life insurance and welfare for our former players,” Msowoya said.
“Even the little dividend we will get goes beyond December 28 because we have a lot to do. That’s why we are reaching out to sponsors and the corporate world so that we can cover more legends,” he added.
The Football Legends team will face Zambia in a friendly match on December 28, with FLA targeting to raise not less than MK50 million.
According to Msowoya, the Association has currently mobilized MK40 million and is looking to raise at least another MK10 million.
