A new season, a new Wisdom Mpinganjira is on display at Mighty Wanderers FC. The dynamic attacker is enjoying a remarkable start to the campaign, already matching his total goal contribution from last season in just eight league games. While the entire Wanderers squad is performing well, Mpinganjira’s individual brilliance stands out.
The son of head coach Bob Mpinganjira, Wisdom faced criticism last season for his final touch and overall goal contribution, despite being recognized as one of the league’s most electrifying attackers.

Last season, he managed a modest eight goal contributions (four assists and four goals) across all competitions. However, he’s clearly put those criticisms to rest this campaign.
Early signs of his exceptional form were evident during the Africa Nations Championship Playoffs against Comoros and South Africa, hinting that this season would be a breakthrough. Once the league kicked off, Mpinganjira wasted no time in asserting himself, often carrying the team with his performances.
Despite primarily playing on the wings, Mpinganjira currently leads the team’s scoring chart with four goals. He opened his account with a goal against Blue Eagles, followed by a brace against Mighty Tigers, and also found the net against Kamuzu Barracks.
In addition to his goal-scoring prowess, he has also registered four assists this season, bringing his total goal contributions to an impressive eight.
His stellar form is a significant factor in Wanderers’ strong start.
Teammate Promise Kamwendo is also enjoying a fine season, coming in second on the team’s scoring chart.
Mpinganjira’s strong performances even earned him a Man of the Match award against Namibia in the COSAFA Cup, and he has cemented his place as a regular in the Flames squad.
Mighty Wanderers FC currently remain the only unbeaten team in the league and they lead the table with 22 points from 8 games while second-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have collected 21 points.
