Wadabwa returns to Wanderers

Former Flames Striker, Peter “Pierre” Wadabwa has returned to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers as he has been roped in as the Strikers’ trainer.

The Club announced the return of their former goal-poacher on Wednesday as they aim to sharpen their strikers who have been struggling to score goals this season.

“Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC welcomes its former forward, Peter ‘Pierre’ Wadabwa as Strikers’ Trainer. Wadabwa, who launched his football career at Mighty Wanderers Youth, played for various Clubs both locally and beyond the boarders,” announced the team.

Some of the Clubs which the former Malawi National Team’s star featured during his prime include: Silver Strikers, Escom United, Mighty Wanderers, Jomo Cosmos (RSA), Thanda Royal Zulu (RSA), Golden Arrows (RSA) and Destortivo de Maputo (Mozambique).

The 40-year-old striker was part of the squad that won the TNM Super League with Wanderers in 2017 and he finished the season with 16 goals in the competition making him the most decorated player during the gala awards of the team. Richard Mbulu won the Golden Boot accolade.

The striker moved to Mozambique after the Nomads failed to extend his contract in 2019 as he signed a one-year contract with Desportivo De Maputo.

The Forward striker, in 2020 returned Wanderers after parting ways with Mozambican side Desportivo de Maputo.

Wadabwa announced his retirement from active football after seventeen years of his football career in 2022. He also played for the Malawi National team and he was among the players who travelled to Angola 2010 AFCON.
