Mazembe had a goal disallowed after a VAR review. Joel Beya had cracked the Egyptian giants’ defense line on the 58th-minute mark. Sadly, they were punished ten minutes later after failing to clear their lines from a corner kick.

Wessam Abou Ali doubled their score in the 83rd minute, putting the match well beyond TP Mazembe. Tawfik Akram scored third in the referees’ optional time to cap off the impressive performance.

While battles may be won away, championships are often secured at home. In the five matches played at home, Al Ahly has not suffered a defeat in Cairo boasting a record of four wins and one draw during this TotalEnergies CAF Champions League season. Against TP Mazembe, the Cairo-based team has always emerged victorious at home, with a 1-0 win in 2002 during the group stage and a 2-1 victory in 2012.
