Pride will be at stake on Sunday, December 7th, 2025 at Dedza Stadium as Thete United and Soccer Saints face off in the inaugural National Bank of Malawi Championship in Dedza District.
This follows their respective victories against Dip United and Nasuluma FC in the semi-finals played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thete United were the first to book their slot in the final on Tuesday after overcoming the resilient Dip United 3-1 on post match penalties after the game ended 2-2 during regulation time at Dedza Stadium.
On Wednesday afternoon at the same venue, Soccer Saints outclassed Nasuluma FC as they claimed a 5-0 victory to book their own seat in the final.
Speaking after the two semifinal games, Chairperson for Dedza District Football Association Chiku Watson Babu commended all the teams that participated in the competition for maintaining their discipline.
“Discipline is key in every competition among the teams and we are happy that reaching this far things have been handled smoothly which is good for us,” Babu said.
He further applauded referees for a job well done throughout the competition.

“The recent referees training by the Football Association of Malawi in partnership with National Bank of Malawi has also assisted us to have enough referees for the competition,” he lamented.
Meanwhile, one of the football coaches in the district Christopher Zinyongo said the league has really brought new life and hope to young players in the rural communities.
The championship was launched on 4th October, 2025 and is being played in all the 31 districts across the country.
Just like every district, Dedza had 16 teams which were divided into four groups of four teams each.
The competition is targeting U-23 players.
The champions in every district will pocket K2 million with the runners-up going home with K1 million while the third-placed team will receive K500,000.
The player of the tournament will get K200,000 while the Top goal scorer will receive K150,000.
The competition also involves regional teams playing in the Division One league.
