The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has relocated Saturday’s high-profile encounter between Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers from Silver Stadium to Bingu National Stadium, citing weather concerns and expected crowd size.
SULOM General Secretary Williams Banda confirmed the venue change Wednesday morning, explaining that the decision was driven by practical considerations as the rainy season intensifies.

“With the rainy season underway, Bingu National Stadium is capable of withstanding heavy rains unlike Silver Stadium, which becomes unplayable,” Banda told Nation Sports. “It’s because of the anticipated pitch conditions and the expected number of spectators due to the profile of the game.”
Banda added that the move aligns with existing regulations, as Bingu serves as Silver’s alternative venue when conditions require it.
The timing of the match adds extra intrigue, coming just two days after the FDH Bank Cup final at the same venue, where Silver Strikers defeated Wanderers on penalties.
League leaders Mighty Wanderers remain unbeaten this season and will seek to extend their advantage at the top to four points. Meanwhile, defending champions Silver Strikers will look to close the gap and move within striking distance of the summit.
The match represents a crucial encounter in the title race, with both teams carrying momentum from their recent cup final meeting.
