TNM Super League Champions Silver Strikers are putting final touches to their preparations as they gear up for their CAF Champions League first preliminary round encounter against Elgeco Plus in Mauritius this weekend.

The Central Bankers will depart Malawi on Thursday, September 18, 2025, flying out from Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe at 2:15 PM. After transiting through Nairobi, Kenya, the team is scheduled to arrive at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius at 4:00 AM on Friday morning, giving them adequate time to acclimatize before Sunday’s crucial fixture.

The Area 47 outfit has been in intensive camp since last week, with the technical team putting the players through rigorous training sessions to ensure they are in peak condition for what promises to be a challenging continental assignment. The first leg will be played at the Cote d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius, as Madagascar currently lacks CAF-authorized venues to host international matches.

However, Silver Strikers will have to navigate this important fixture without the services of Second Assistant Coach Mapopa Kent Msukwa, who is currently away on national duty with the Malawi Under-17 team at the COSAFA Under-17 Tournament in Zimbabwe.

The match will be officiated by an all-Mauritian crew led by centre referee Ahmad Imtehaz Heeralall, who will be assisted by compatriots Aswet Teeluck Jean and Marc Jeff Pithia as first and second assistant referees respectively.

Patrice Milazar Jean will serve as the fourth official, while Albert Rollin Jean from Reunion Island has been appointed as the match commissioner. Claude Labrosse from Seychelles will assess the referees’ performance.

The stakes are high for both teams, as the winner of this two-legged affair will earn the right to face Tanzania’s Yanga FC in the second preliminary round of the continental competition. This presents Silver Strikers with an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in African football and represent Malawi with distinction on the continental stage.

Following the first leg encounter, the team will waste no time in returning home, departing Mauritius at 4:00 AM the following morning. They are expected to touch down at Kamuzu International Airport on Sunday, September 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM, after which they will immediately go into camp to prepare for the decisive second leg.

The return fixture is scheduled for September 27, 2025, at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, where Silver Strikers will have the advantage of home support.

The second leg will be handled by Zimbabwean referee Brighton Chimene, with fellow Zimbabweans Tafadzwa Nkala serving as first assistant and Owen Manenda as fourth official.
