Silver Strikers are feeling the effects of a relentless fixture list, with assistant coach Mapopa Kent Msukwa bemoaning player fatigue after their recent win over Dedza Dynamos.

The Bankers have faced a demanding schedule, playing three matches in just seven days, and are set to play their fourth in eight days this Saturday.

The taxing period began with a match against Ekhaya FC last Saturday, followed by a clash with Mighty Wanderers on Sunday. Most recently, on Wednesday, the Bankers secured a hard-fought victory against Dedza Dynamos.

Against Dedza Dynamos, Silver Strikers started strong, with Chinsisi Maonga scoring just three minutes in, tapping home a pass from Uchizi Vunga.

However, Dedza quickly seized momentum, dominating much of the first half and equalizing through a Marco Chiwaya header. Despite the fatigue, Silver Strikers pushed hard for a late winner, ultimately securing the crucial three points.

Assistant Coach Msukwa acknowledged the team’s struggles, stating, “If you can see, we are playing four matches in seven days, to manage that kind of pressure, it is becoming tough on our players. We should praise the boys for the job well done.”

He added, “We didn’t relax in the game but sometimes football is a game of halves, you dominate the other half, others dominate the other half. According to our game plan, it went well.”

The win marks Silver Strikers’ fourth victory in their last six games, propelling them closer to second-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. The Bankers now sit on 26 points from 13 games, while Bullets have 29 points from 12 matches.

For Dedza Dynamos, the loss extends their winless streak to five consecutive games, having previously recorded two defeats and two draws.
