Silver Strikers head coach Peter Mgangira has declared his side ready to secure victory against Blue Eagles in this afternoon’s FDH Cup quarterfinal clash at Nakhaka Stadium.
While acknowledging the challenge ahead, Mgangira expressed confidence that his team will emerge victorious in what promises to be a highly competitive encounter.

“Against Blue Eagles, it’s always a tough match, but we are ready for it. The boys look sharp, and we know that this is the team that eliminated us last season. This already serves as motivation for us because the players know that we’re playing a team where, if we relax or don’t work hard, we can easily lose the game,” Mgangira said.
The Silver Strikers mentor revealed that his squad is well-prepared for the encounter, with the added advantage of having several key players returning from injury.
“We are hoping that the players will give 100 percent and carry the day. Cup games are very important; there’s money at stake, and pride,” he explained.
Beyond the prize money and cup progression, Mgangira emphasized the local derby significance, with both teams hailing from Lilongwe.
“Blue Eagles and us come from the same town, so it’s always about superiority—who is bigger than the other. There are many factors that make it a must for us to win, to show that we are dominating Lilongwe. And since it’s a cup, there’s prize money at the end of the competition,” said Mgangira.
Silver Strikers booked their place in the last eight following an impressive 4-1 victory against FC Shire in the previous round. However, they will be keen to avenge last season’s semifinal elimination at the hands of Blue Eagles in the same competition.
The match kicks off this afternoon at Nakhaka Stadium.
