Silver Strikers have condemned the unsporting acts that happened at Silver Stadium on Thursday afternoon when the team’s supporters were seen pouring liquid substances on MAFCO players as the two teams faced off in a TNM Super League match.
The acts happened towards the end of the match when a supporter was seen entering the pitch and pouring liquid substances on goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa, whose performance was instrumental in securing a goalless draw in the game.
However, after the final whistle, another supporter was spotted doing the same to the opposition players as they were heading to the dressing room in frustration after dropping points at home.

But in a statement by the Bankers on 10 July 2025, the club condemned the acts, saying the club does not promote any kind of violence, as this is a serious breach of sportsmanship and safety at the stadium.
“We extend our sincere apologies to the affected MAFCO players, their technical team, match officials, and all supporters present. The club does not condone any form of violence, intimidation, or pitch invasion, whether by fans or any individuals claiming to be associated with Silver Strikers,” read part of the statement.
Meanwhile, the club said they will help the relevant authorities to find those who were involved in the acts and will also take necessary actions internally to punish those involved, to prevent similar acts from happening in the future.
Silver Stadium has been a place full of such kinds of juju acts, as most of the supporters were seen pouring liquids on players, goalposts, and some were urinating on the goalposts last season en route to their TNM Super League championship.
The league’s governing body, Super League of Malawi, is yet to comment or act on the issue.
