De Jongh holds a special place in the hearts of Highlanders faithful, having been the last coach to deliver silverware to the Bulawayo giants. Under his guidance, Highlanders lifted the Chibuku Super Cup in 2019, a memorable achievement that endeared him to the club’s supporters.
Since his departure from Highlanders at the end of 2019, where he chose not to extend his short but successful spell, De Jongh has continued his nomadic coaching career across Africa and beyond.
Most recently, De Jongh was the head coach of Malawian top-flight club Silver Strikers, a role he took up in February 2023. His contract with the club concluded in January 2024.
Following his stint at Highlanders, De Jongh moved to fellow Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League side FC Platinum, taking charge in early 2020. He notably led them to victory in the Castle Lager Challenge Cup in March 2020, ironically defeating his former club Highlanders in the final. His time at FC Platinum also saw him oversee their CAF Champions League campaign. He left the club in November 2020.
In 2022, De Jongh took on the challenge of coaching the Somalia national team, a brief but significant chapter in his diverse career.
