Kukoma Ntopwa Women are in danger of not playing at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League| COSAFA Qualifiers as they are yet to depart the country with the competition kicking on Friday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to owner for the club Isaac Jomo Osman, the team need more than K50 million for the journey which is not available at the moment.
“I can’t sell my house to make this trip a reality but people need to support us because we are representing the country,” Osman said when speaking to one of the local radio stations Zodiak Broadcasting Station inside Sunrise Malawi’s sports segment.

He appealed for support from the corporate world though he said he doubts that the team will travel to South Africa for the competition.
Ntopwa were expected to make their second appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League| COSAFA Qualifiers, following their debut in 2023.
In 2023, Ntopwa managed a 1-1 draw with Lesotho Defence Force in their first game but had a tough ride against Green Buffaloes and Double Action suffering 1-0 and 4-0 defeats respectively.
This year, Ntopwa have been drawn in group A alongside two-time winners Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Beauties FC of Namibia and Zesco Ndola Girls FC of Zambia.
A record 10 teams will contest for a single place at the eight-team continental finals later this year.
