Flames attacker Lanjesi Nkhoma was on target on Saturday as TP Mazembe secured a crucial 1-0 away victory over Lubumbashi Sport in the Democratic Republic of Congo Premier League.
Nkhoma, who missed the previous Tshikas match, returned to the starting XI and made an immediate impact. The Malawian striker finished off a well-worked team move in the 12th minute, converting a pass from Josue Kazema after his compatriot Patrick Mwaungulu initiated the attack.

Despite sustained pressure from the hosts, Mazembe defended resolutely to claim all three points—their ninth win of the group phase.
The victory propelled Mazembe to the summit of the league standings with 30 points from 13 matches, including 11 wins, two draws, and just one defeat. They edge ahead of St Eloi Lupopo, who also have 30 points but from 12 games.
Mazembe’s recent form has been exceptional, winning eight of their last nine matches with only a draw against Tshinkunku on December 18 interrupting their winning streak. Saturday’s triumph came on the back of a 1-0 victory over Tshika in their previous outing.
Both Nkhoma and Mwaungulu have been instrumental for Mazembe this season, with the Malawian duo consistently delivering important goals and assists. Their partnership continues to prove vital as the club pushes for the league title.
