NBS Bank National Division League side, Ndirande Stars, will hold a big walk through the streets of Ndirande Township as part of a fundraising drive to raise K50 million to support the team’s operations.
The initiative is aimed at engaging supporters within the township who passionately rally behind the team during matches in the second-tier league. The funds raised will help the club fulfil fixtures in the second round of the competition.
The team’s General Secretary, Willy Simkonda, said the club travels long distances to places like Karonga, Rumphi, Kasungu, and Lilongwe, which requires substantial financial support.

“Since we don’t have sponsors, we rely on well-wishers to help us run the team financially. If people support us, we will have a smooth run in the second half of the National Division League,” said Simkonda.
He urged all residents of the township to take part in the big walk and help the team meet its target. In addition to the walk, the team is also selling branded T-shirts at K20,000 each.
The fundraiser will start at 8:00 AM at Ndirande Market, proceed through the Makata Industrial Area to Nyambadwe, and return to Ndirande Market, where the event will conclude.
On the field, Ndirande Stars will be looking to collect more points on Sunday when they host struggling Jenda United at Mpira Stadium, aiming to move closer to the top half of the 12-team table.
The team endured a rocky start to the season, failing to register a win in their opening five matches and collecting just two points. However, they have since bounced back to earn seven points from their last three games, placing them on position 9 with two wins, three draws, and three losses.
