FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda has praised new defender Khumbo Banda following his debut performance, describing him as the type of defender the team has been missing.
The former Chitipa United and Red Lions defender, who was signed from Dedza Dynamos on July 30, 2025, was handed his first start against Chilumba Barracks as the People’s Team secured a commanding 5-0 victory at Chitipa Stadium.

Making his debut as a right-sided center-back, Banda partnered with Blessings Joseph and Dominic Musonda in a three-man defense as Bullets employed a 3-5-2 formation against the second-tier league side.
Mponda expressed satisfaction with Banda’s seamless integration into the team, highlighting his confidence and defensive solidity.
“He was outstanding today, and I would say he is exactly the kind of defender we have been missing. He was solid defensively and performed as our best defender on the pitch,” Mponda said.
The match saw Babatunde Adepoju net four goals while Chawanangwa Gumbo added another as the People’s Team cruised into the round of 16 of the FDH Bank Cup, where they will face the winner of the tie between Becks Academy and The Boys.
Banda joined Dynamos for K4 million following his impressive performances with his former club and has signed a two-year contract with the People’s Team.
