Malawi Under 21 Netball team secured a win on the first day of a three-day training matches against Zambia Under 21 after securing a 12-basket victory in a 36-48 win at the DYDC Zambia on Friday afternoon.
The team arrived in Zambia on Monday where they had trainings before facing the host nation in strength-testing matches scheduled for Friday up to Sunday in the country.

The Junior Queens had Chimwemwe Dzanja as a Goalkeeper, Aisha Gama as a Goal Defender, Esther Phiri as a Wing Defender, Adidya Juma as a Center, Alinafe Chaima as a Wing Attacker, Florence Jere as a Goal Attacker and Stella Matelezi as a Goal Shooter in the starting VI.
Meanwhile, it was a tight contest in the opening two quarters as Malawi led by only two basket as it was 19-21 at half time but had to net 14 baskets while letting in just 6 in the third Quarter to hold a 25-35 lead.
The team continued with the riot as they bagged further 13 baskets in the last quarter while Zambia got 11 baskets but the Queens shone with a 36-48 victory.
The two teams will face each other on Saturday and Sunday at 15:00hrs at the same venue.
The team secured the friendlies as part of preparations for the Youth Netball World Cup in Gibraltar scheduled for next month and plan to hold further friendlies with European teams.
